The International comeback of AB de Villiers has been making rounds on the internet for the last few days and the South African skipper Faf du Plessis has now shared his thoughts on the same.
Ahead of South Africa’s third Test against England, du Plessis said he would love to have ABD back in the squad building up to the ICC T20 World Cup 2020 which will be played in Australia in October.
When asked about de Villiers’ comeback, du Plessis said. “We talked about it and I was very keen on having him back and this was even before the current coaching staff came by.
He later revealed there have been talks about how many matches are there in 2020 for South Africa to play before the World Cup and figuring out a way in which de Villiers can fit back into the side.
AB de Villiers had announced his international all of a sudden in 2018, but the veteran batsman has since then taken part in domestic T20 leagues all around the globe.
Recently, the South African team went on to change their entire support staff. Former captain Graeme Smith and wicketkeeper Mark Boucher were brought in as the director of cricket and the head coach respectively. Other appointments saw Jacques Kallis being named the batting consultant while Charl Langeveldt was named the bowling consultant. Since then, reports have come that ABD has offered to come back and play the T20 World Cup.
