Caitlyn Jenner, the former Olympic champion and reality TV star, has shared her insights on the Kardashian family in a new docuseries called “House of Kardashian”. The three-part series, which premiered on Thursday, explores the rise and fall of the famous clan and the price they paid for their fame.
In the trailer for the series, Caitlyn Jenner, who was married to Kris Jenner for 23 years and is the parent of Kendall and Kylie Jenner, claims that Kim Kardashian had a calculated plan to become famous from the beginning. “Kimberly calculated from the beginning, ‘How do I become famous?’” Caitlyn Jenner says in the clip, seemingly referring to Kim’s leaked sex tape with her ex-boyfriend Ray J in 2007.
The sex tape was a means to an end, according to Joe Francis.
Joe Francis, the founder of “Girls Gone Wild” and one of Kourtney Kardashian’s exes, also appears in the docuseries and backs up Caitlyn Jenner’s statement. “[Kim’s] sex tape was a means to an end,” Francis says in the trailer. “It was to create a controversy.”
The sex tape, which was released by Vivid Entertainment without Kim’s consent, catapulted her into the spotlight and paved the way for her family’s reality show, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”. The show, which debuted in 2007 and ran for 20 seasons, followed the lives of Kim and her sisters Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall and Kylie, as well as their mother Kris and their brother Rob.

The trailer also shows Caitlyn Jenner being asked about what it was like working with Kris Jenner, who is widely credited as the mastermind behind the Kardashian empire. Caitlyn Jenner responds with a knowing laugh before the trailer cuts off.
Caitlyn Jenner and Kris Jenner divorced in 2015, after Caitlyn Jenner came out as a transgender woman. Their relationship has been strained ever since, as Kris Jenner felt blindsided by Caitlyn Jenner’s transition and her memoir, “The Secrets of My Life”, which accused Kris Jenner of mistreating her during their marriage.
Caitlyn Jenner has also become estranged from her former stepchildren, especially Kim and Khloe, who have sided with their mother. In 2017, Caitlyn Jenner told Piers Morgan that she had “lost all relationship” with them and “doesn’t talk” to any of them anymore.
The docuseries promises to show never-before-seen footage and interviews.
According to the synopsis of the series, “House of Kardashian” will feature “never-before-seen archival footage and interviews from the family’s inner circle”. The series is produced by 72 Films in association with Sky Studios and will examine “the cost that comes with having Kardashian-level fame”.
Caitlyn Jenner said in a statement that she was happy to participate in the interview process to share her side of the story. “I was there when this started from day one. I watched it grow. And doing the show for almost 20 seasons was one of the highlights of my life,” she said. “I am incredibly proud of all my children and stepchildren.”
