Chick-fil-A Introduces New Fall Specials with a Southern Twist

Chick-fil-A, the popular fast food chain known for its classic chicken sandwich, has launched two new limited-time menu items for the fall season. The Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich and the Caramel Crumble Milkshake are both inspired by the flavors of the American South and offer a creative twist on the chain’s signature offerings.

A Savory and Sweet Sandwich with a Kick

The Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich is the first ever variation on Chick-fil-A’s original fried chicken sandwich, which has been a staple of the chain since 1964. The new sandwich features a fried chicken filet topped with pimento cheese, pickled jalapeños, and honey, served on a lightly toasted bun.

The pimento cheese is made in-house with sharp cheddar cheese, cream cheese, pimento peppers, and roasted green chiles. It adds a creamy and melty texture to the sandwich, as well as a savory and salty flavor. The pickled jalapeños provide a mild heat and a tangy contrast to the sweetness of the honey. The honey also enhances the natural sweetness of the pimento peppers and complements the crispy chicken filet.

The sandwich is available in three versions: original, spicy, and grilled. The original and spicy versions have 600 and 610 calories respectively, while the grilled version has 430 calories. All three options have at least 30 grams of protein and 18 grams of fat.

The sandwich was created by Chick-fil-A chefs Christy Cook and Stuart Tracy, who wanted to deliver a unique spin for their guests without losing the classic taste of the original chicken sandwich. They started brainstorming in 2018 and developed 20 to 30 concepts before settling on the Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich. They tested it in various markets across the country before launching it nationwide on August 16.

A Creamy and Crunchy Milkshake with Butterscotch Flavors

The Caramel Crumble Milkshake is the seventh seasonal milkshake from Chick-fil-A and the first one to feature butterscotch flavors. It is made with Chick-fil-A’s vanilla ice cream blended with caramel syrup and topped with whipped cream, caramel drizzle, and crumbled blondie pieces.

The milkshake was inspired by the flavors that caramelize at the bottom of a blondie pan, according to Chef Cook. It has a rich and buttery taste with hints of brown sugar and vanilla. The blondie pieces add a crunchy texture and a chewy bite to the smooth and creamy shake.

The milkshake has 660 calories, 25 grams of fat, and 12 grams of protein. It is a perfect cold treat to celebrate the end of summer or to pair with the hot and spicy sandwich.

The milkshake was also launched on August 16 along with the sandwich and will be available until November 20 or while supplies last.

A Southern Twist on Chick-fil-A’s Classics

Chick-fil-A is known for its simple and consistent menu that rarely changes or deviates from its core products. However, the chain has been experimenting with seasonal specials and regional favorites to cater to its diverse and loyal customers.

The Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken Sandwich and the Caramel Crumble Milkshake are both examples of how Chick-fil-A incorporates elements of Southern cuisine into its menu items. Pimento cheese is a staple of Southern food culture that originated in Georgia in the early 20th century. It is often served as a spread or dip for crackers, bread, or vegetables. Caramel crumble is a dessert that resembles a blondie or a brownie with caramel sauce. It is often baked in a cast-iron skillet or a baking dish and served warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

By adding these flavors to its chicken sandwich and milkshake, Chick-fil-A creates a unique and delicious combination that appeals to both traditionalists and adventurers. The chain also showcases its culinary creativity and innovation without compromising its quality and service.
