The Mega Millions lottery drawing for Friday, September 15, 2023, had a jackpot of $162 million, with a cash option of $77.4 million. The winning numbers were 5, 13, 29, 50, 53 and the Mega Ball was 25. The Megaplier was 3x.
One Ticket Matches All Six Numbers
According to the Mega Millions website, one ticket sold in Florida matched all six numbers and won the jackpot. This is the third time this year that a Mega Millions jackpot has been won in Florida. The previous two winners were in January and August, with prizes of $1 billion and $39 million respectively.
The lucky ticket holder has not yet come forward to claim their prize. They have 180 days from the date of the drawing to do so, according to the Florida Lottery website. The retailer that sold the winning ticket will receive a $100,000 bonus commission.
Other Prizes Awarded
Besides the jackpot winner, there were also other prizes awarded in the Friday night drawing. According to the Mega Millions website, nine tickets matched five numbers and won $1 million each. Two of them were sold in California, two in Georgia, two in New York, one in Illinois, one in Michigan and one in Texas.
Additionally, 29 tickets matched four numbers plus the Mega Ball and won $10,000 each. Seven of them had the Megaplier option and won $30,000 each.
In total, there were 1,057,142 winning tickets across all prize tiers in the Friday night drawing.
Next Drawing on Tuesday
The next Mega Millions drawing will be on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 11 p.m. ET. The estimated jackpot is $20 million, with a cash option of $9 million.
To play Mega Millions, players need to choose five numbers from 1 to 70 and one Mega Ball number from 1 to 25. They can also add the Megaplier option for an extra dollar, which can multiply their non-jackpot prizes by up to five times.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are 1 in 302.6 million. The odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.
Mega Millions is played in 45 states plus the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
