How to show your pet you love them, according to a new survey

Pets are more than just animals. They are our loyal companions, our furry friends, our family members. But how do we express our love to them in a way that they can understand? A new survey conducted by Nulo pet food reveals the most popular love languages among cat and dog owners.

Physical touch is the top love language for pets

The survey of 2,000 cat and dog owners found that physical touch was the most effective way to show love to their pets. A whopping 83% of respondents said that petting their fur babies was the best way to communicate affection. Another 62% said that hugging and 55% said that kissing were also important.

This makes sense, as animals use tactile communication with each other, and with their human friends. Whether it’s rubbing against your leg, nuzzling up next to you, or licking your face, pets have their own ways of saying “I love you”. And what pet owner among us doesn’t enjoy cuddling with their furry friend?

Quality time and quality food are also important

The survey also revealed that quality time and quality food were other significant love languages for pets. 27% of respondents said that spending time with their pets was a key way to show love. This includes letting them sleep in their bed, bringing them along on trips, or playing with them.

Pet owners also reported being committed to offering high-quality meals to their pets, with 53% saying that this was a way to express love. They also focused on health and nutrition (47%) and diet variety (32%) for their pets.

The way to a pet’s heart may not be through gifts, but it is certainly through their stomach. Pets appreciate when we provide them with delicious and nutritious food that meets their needs and preferences.

Pets know we love them

The survey also found that 95% of pet owners believed that their pets knew how much they loved them because of how seriously they took showing affection. Pet owners are not shy about expressing their love to their pets, and they are confident that their pets feel the same way.

Pets are amazing creatures that bring joy and happiness to our lives. They deserve all the love we can give them, and they give it back in return. By understanding their love languages, we can make sure we are communicating with them effectively and making them feel valued and appreciated.
